Waterland blends the Tropical Modern style pioneered by renowned Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa with traditional elements of a Sri Lankan walawwa (a feudal manor house).

Our Villas

Each of our 5 villas celebrates an aspect of Sri Lankan culture: the lotus flower, the elephant, the peacock, the monsoon, and a fire deity that wards off evil.  

No two villas are the same.  One villa has a fiery red accent wall, one has walls saturated in sky blue lime wash; one has a triangular pool, the pool in another villa flows into the living room.

 

The villas have differing levels of privacy.  The pools of the Fire and Lotus Villas are enclosed by courtyards, providing the most privacy.  The other villas have commanding views of the surrounding waterways from their pools.  These 3 villas are also quite private, but their views and connections with nature mean that they have less privacy than the Fire and Lotus Villas.
